Pigeon in the window

Roses of Notre Dame

I found several flowering rose bushes in the garden behind Notre Dame cathedral in Paris. It proved to be a great place to practice depth-of-field shots. That's another way of saying selective focus.

The almost-French-maid costume of the dessert girl at Les Deux Magots is not to be missed. The pastries don't look half bad, either. Posted by Picasa

Izamal, Yucatan, Mexico

Local visitors enter Cenote Dzitnup in Valladolid, Yucatan, Mexico (Aug 2005). The way down is steep and somewhat claustophobic, but the cool water at the bottom is an excellent pay-off: Escape the summer heat!

Cenote Dzitnup in Valladolid, Yucatan, Mexico is a favorite spot for locals to escape the heat, and completely by-passed by most foreign tourists (Aug. 2005). Cenotes are deep limestone pools that served the ancient Maya of the Yucatan as the main source of fresh water in the absence of above-ground rivers on peninsula. Posted by Picasa
